Rare earth (RE) aluminum alloys are widely used, due to their excellent properties. In addition, the rare-earth metals are rich resource in China. It is of great significance that the application of rare-earth metals is expanded. Great attention has therefore been drawn to their preparation method. It had been briefly summarized about the characters and preparing methods of Rare earth aluminum alloys. At the same time , it had been summarized the developmental survey and actuality research fundamental characters and applications of Rare earth modification. In addition, preparing methods and the process technology of the best parameter of Al-lOCe master alloys in the paper were showed. The following three respects conduct the work: modification effects lasting modification effects. remelting modification and so on. And the mechanism of structure formation of Al-lOCe master alloys was studied preliminarily.Al-10Ce master alloys were prepared by the mix-melting method. Research three respects the work: effects of melting temperature, dissolving time, means of stirring. Test and analyze actual parameter of the mix-melting method preparation of Al-lOCe alloy technology and confirm the parameter of the feasibility and reasonability of above-mentioned election.The experimental results indicate that a new high effective modifier with low price, which can be conveniently mass-produced by self-preparation -Al-lOCe master Alloy the modified results show that an excellent modification can be obtained with the proper addition of Al-10Ce master alloy in a-Al and eutectic Al - Si alloys. X-ray diffraction EDS and SEM were used to examine the phases and microstructure of Al-10Ce master alloys. The experimental results indicate that Al-10Ce master alloys consist of Al Ce Al4Ce.The modified results show that the contend the size and distribution of Al4Ce have most significant influence on a-Al and eutectic Al -Si alloys modification effects. In addition, the remelting modification -. the lasting modification effects wereresearched and Al-lOCe master alloys in a-Al and eutectic Al-Si alloys have many advantages, compared with natrium salt. It's efficient time is 4-5 hours; and it can be remelted 45 times .The Al-lOCe master alloy has many useful properties such as small addition , rapid affecting long efficient period and good remelting ability. At same time, modifying and refining technologies with rare-earth alloy never pollute the environment, Therefore, Al-lOCe master alloys have overcome the shortcomings of current many modifiers and may be considered as a new-style and green modifiers with good prosperity.
