The rice quality system is developed based on the image processing technology. The function of the system (RQS) is to determinate the grade of the rice according to the National Standard GB/T 17891-1999 "High Quality Rice". Besides giving out the numerical results of quality index, the quality grade can be shown by the improved system. At the same time, image-capturing device is designed linked to the RQS software, which strengthens the practicability of the system. The chemical quality indexes, e.g. amylose and protein, can also be detected by the system. Based on the correlation between the colorimetric parameters and concentration, the content of amylose and protein can be determined by the system through a human-machine interface, and the results can be got automatically. Corresponding grade of the sample can also be shown when needed which made it much efficient to identify the quality.The determination platform for grain quality is developed based on the RQS. Iron spots in flour are recognized by the platform. And its content is achieved through the area ratio of objective and background or the number of the targets. An appearance distributing, relating to the mixture degree, is bought forward when the figure of objective, the distance and angle to the center are regarded as parameters. According to the quantity relationship and appearance distributing, the quality of iron in flour is detected quickly. Meanwhile the feasibility and necessity of the platform supporting to detect other indexes are studied and proved, such as the milling grade of wheat and TP content.
