With the founding of market-oriented economic system in China, as the main body of market, enterprises-the leading roles of market-will face the fiercer competition. The state-owned enterprises with the characters of planned economy have been shown their disadvantages in system, management and operating mechanism. At the same time, the flood of informationalization is sweeping across our globe and bringing great changes in the fields of society, technology and the culture, it must influence management affairs as well. The pattern of enterprise management under the planned economy can not meet the present demand and may restrain the development of enterprises. The enterprises must change the primary and backward management, utilize the modern advanced information technology and management method, intensify the construction of informationalization, and enhance the managing level, so as to raise working efficiency and competitive power.Alumina Plant is the main producing department of Shanxi Branch China Aluminium Co LTD. Owing to the complexity of produce craft, it has many different kinds of producing plant. Thus, how to effectively manage these plant and relative information becomes more important. Investigating into the plant information and management shows that there are many problems of management. For example, plant managing is passive, static and low-efficiency. According to these problems, we have researched and developed PMIS of Alumina Plant, based on the information theory, system theory and enterprise management theory, utilizing structural analysis and designing methods, have set up several functional models, such as system plant general situation, plant asset management, plant service management, plant document management, plant appearance management and spare parts management. Utilizing VB, EXCEL and WORD, finally made these functional models reality.The founding of the PMIS of Alumina Plant , which can not only effectively solve the present plant managing problems but also provide some information supports to the leader and manager who worked on the plant managing. More important is that it may strongly promote the construction of enterprise informationalization.PMIS of Alumina Plant is simple and easy to operate.Utilizing the embedingtechnology , VB embeded the EXCEL and WORD, not only decrease the development working time but also since the general workers all can use the EXCEL and WORD , it made this system be easy to operate and practical. At the same time, the method would provide some reference and value, which design the information system by classification according to production flow and department function in the process.
