In this paper, the hydroxide-propyl trimethyl ammonium chloride chitosan(HACC) was synthesized with chitosan(CTS) and 3-chlorine-2-hydroxidepropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (CTA), and the factors which affect the intrinsic viscosity and degree of substitution of produce were checked, such as the composing of reactants, the dosage of activator, the reaction of temperature and the composing of reaction medium et al.. Then the produce was characterized by using FTIR, X-ray Diffraction, DSC and TG techniques. Pilot study was done in the clarity of tropical wine and the corrosion inhibition of metal in acid. The results as follows:1 The DS(degree of substitution) of product increases with the molar proportion increasing of alkali activator and CTA, when the proportion is 2:1, the DS is 62.52% and the intrinsic viscosity reduces initial and is steady later. The DS increases with the dosage increasing of CTA, and then reduces later. When the molar proportion of CTS and CTA is 1:5, the DS achieve 83.04% and the intrinsic viscosity hasn't obviously change. The DS of product increases with the proportion increasing of isopropanol and water, when the proportion is 8:2, the DS is 105.6%, and the intrinsic viscosity becomes smaller. The DS increases with the temperature rising initial and decreases later, the DS is 90% at 80 °C, and the intrinsic viscosity is out of the way. The DS increases with the increasing of molecular weight, and hasn't obviously change after 2×10~52 Infrared spectrum shows that CTS is grafted on the amido location. Thermo performance analysis shows HACC is less steady than CTS because of the reducing of the degree of crystallinity.3 In the flocculation experiment, with the increasing of dosage of HACC and CTS, the effect becomes better, the best dosages of them are respectively 0.7mg/ml and 0.9mg/ml. With the lag of time, the effect becomes better, and after 3 hours is steady. The pH range in which HACC is applicable is wider than CTS. The best pH is the original value 3.5. The room temperature is better for clarity. The sedimentation of HACC is more rapid than that of CTS.4 The corrosion inhibition experiment of metal shows that HACC is effective. The inhibition efficiency increases with the increasing of dosage, and the efficiency is 88.2% when the dosage is 0.07%. The inhibition efficiency increases with the lag of time and reduces later, when the time is 15h, the inhibition efficiency is 75.22%. HACC has better...
