The results, which were obtained by investigation and assessment on heavy metal pollution of vegetable cultivated soils and vegetables as well as comparing that of Urumqi's routine vegetables to non-polluted vegetables, were as follows: 1. The soil of vegetables base has suffered from pollution of Cd in the outskirts of Urumqi, the exceeding standard rate of Cd is 25%. 2. The vegetables that Urumqi sold have suffered from the pollution of Cd, Cr and Pb.And the pollution of Cd is the most serious. The exceeding standard rate of Cd is 98.7% on the routine vegetables and non-polluted vegetable is 85.2%. 3. The exceeding standard rate of heavy metal of routine vegetables which Urumqi sells is: Cd>Pb>Cr>Cu. And the exceeding standard rate of heavy metal of non-polluted vegetables is: Cd>Cr>Pb>Cu. 4. The heavy metal pollution status of Urumqi's routine vegetables was more serious than that of non-polluted vegetables. 5. Average rate of samples exceeding standard of Urumqi's routine vegetables followed the order of Onions and garlics>Leaf vegetables> Beans>Melon vegetables>Root tubers>Eggplant fruits. Average rate of samples exceeding standard of Urumqi's non-polluted vegetables followed the order of Root tubers>Leaf vegetables>Onions and garlics>Beans>Melon vegetables>Eggplant fruits. 6. The daily intakes of heavy metal in vegetable per capita in Urumqi were less than ADI (Allow Daily Intakes). However, the daily intakes of Pb and Cd were 82.9% and 22.2% of ADI; respectively. This will be most likely harmful to human health. 7. The order of personal annual risk that the health that the noxious substance cause endangers is Cr>Cd>Pb>Cu in the routine vegetables which Urumqi sells; the size order of personal annual risk that the health endangers that the noxious substance causes is Cr>Cd>Pb>Cu in the non-polluted vegetables. Routine vegetables every noxious substance endanger to human body total health risk 9.64×10-4, (whether namely every year of the every ten thousand people because edible vegetables pollutant all kinds of endanger health or number of death 9 people). Non-polluted vegetables every noxious substance endanger the risk to human body total health as 1.31×10-4, (whether namely every year of the every ten thousand people because edible vegetables pollutant all kinds of endanger health or number of death 1 people).
