Ferrocene and its derivatives have particular chemical configuration, that is sandwich structure, which make them possess some particular properties in the physics, chemistry and extensive application in other fields . such as biology, medicine, organic synthesis and organometallic chemistry and so on. Therefore, in the recent years the study of properties and synthesis about ferrocene and its derivatives have always been an important term for organic synthesis chemists in these areas. This paper aims at synthesizing some ferrocene derivatives with novel structure to study their properties of electrochemistry and liquid crystal behaviour and their potential application.l.Both 4-Ferrocenyl benzoic acid and 4-carboxyphenol-4'-ferrocenyl benzoate were synthesized and characterized by 1H NMR and IR spectroscopy. Moreover, their Electrochemistry properties were tested. Its application in the modified electrode has been studying.2.Three novel thiadiazolo-ferrocence derivatives containing long chain alkyl group were synthesized and characterized. The voltammetric behavior was studied. The influence of β-cyclodextrin on the voltammetric behavior of the compounds was also studied preliminarily.3. Eight thiadiazolo-ferrocene derivatives were designed and synthesized, their chemical structures were characterized. DSC, which verified the transition temperature of LC phase,detected two of them, other related tests are in progress.4. A novel thiadiazolo-ferrocence schiff base was synthesized, its configuration was to be characterized. The synthesis of other congeneric compounds and their related tests are in progress.
