In the past tow decades, more and more interests has focused on design of new compounds incorporating the ferrocene skeleton owing to their potential applications as NLO materials, liquid crystal materials, electrochemistry, polymer chemistry, material chemistry etc. When we have synthesized a series of biaryl ferrocenyl chalcone deriveatives, we found that the previous method due to the fellows weakness: firstly, the time of reaction is long usually, and some reaction would spend three or four days, while the conversion was only about 70%; Secondly, the conversion is low, and the yields is only 30-80%, it is bring some trouble for the islolate. In this thesis, we have studied Pd (0) catalyzed Suzuki cross-coupling reaction and obtained an improved method to much shorten the reactive time and raise the conversion. We have investigated the difference of the two methods between adding reag-ents with step by step (which is to add the halide and the catalyst after Arylboronic acid and sodium carbonate refluxed for 5 minutes in a solvent)to adding all reagents atthe same time. We found that the reactive rate of the former is much faster than the later. We have also investigated the influence of varied solvents, and found that this type of reaction could complete under 1 hour even 15 minutes in alcohol solvents, especially in the methanol, which is very superior to the nonpolar solvent such as benzene, toluene and some polar aproton solvents such as DMF, acetone, THF.The novel 3 -biaryl- 1-ferroceyl chalcone deriveatives were synthesized by Pd(0) catalyzed Suzuki cross-coupling reaction at these reactive conditions in good yields and their structures were established with elemental analyses,IR spectra,1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectra.
