Carbon nanotubes and amorphous alloy , which have particular catalytic properties respectively , are two types of new catalytic materials developed in recent two decades , and they have received an increasing interest from a fundermental point of view and for potential industrial applications .But few research on amorphous alloy loaded on carbon nanotubes was carried out . Catalytic properties of amorphous alloy supported on carbon nanotubes were studied in detail in this paper . As we all know , the dechlorination problem hasn't been solved efficiently all the time during the hydrogenation of chloronitrobenzene , so we prepared transition and noble metal amorphous alloy supported on carbon nanotubes respectively and evaluated them in the reaction . The results showed that the screened catalysts exhibited better catalytic performances with higher conversion and lower dechlorination compared to common hydrogenation catalysts such as Pd/C , Ni powder and Renay Ni .Firstly , raw carbon nanotubes were disposed of by ultrasonic and liquid phase oxidation . The results showed that not only could catalystreceive expected loading amount, but also carbon nanotubes was purified efficiently by this disposal method . Two reasons give the answer : one is that the impurities particles could be ridded of from the surface of carbon nanotubes , the other is that ultrasonic can produce high temperature and pressure on the surface of carbon nanotubes , which could destroy the surface regularity so that the metal particles could load easily .Amorphous alloy catalysts supported on the CNTs and other supports were prepared from noble metallic salts and transition metallic salts by impregnation-chemical reduction. Their catalytic performances were evaluated in the liquid-phase hydrogenation of chloronitrobenzene and campared to that of the catalysts with the same components supported on different supports and the common hydrogenation catalysts in the experiments. The results showed that catalytic performances are significantly influenced by catalyst loading, supports, additives and amounts of additives respectively, and the screened catalysts exhibited better catalytic properties . In order to explain the above phenomena , XRD,TEM,SEM,SAED and X-ray EDS were employed to investigated their surface nature, followed by discussion about the relationship between catalytic perfornmances and catalyst structrure . The results revealed that in the case of the supported amorphous alloy catalyst prepared from noble metallic salts, PtSn(0.6)B/CNTs has not only high catalytic activity with conversion above 99.9% but better selectivity to...
