It's so essential to monitor the tool condition in the mass automatic procedure. On the basis of analyzing the status quo, we will monitor the tool from the workpieces' exterior texture by using Mathematical Morphology.Chapter 1. After expatiating the research's background, we put forward a new method to monitor the tool by use of Mathematical Morphology on the base of analyzing the research of tool monitoring techniques and their respective characteristics, advantages, and the status quo.Chapter 2. We analyze the characteristics of workpieces' exterior texture of different machining time, and tool's abrasion mechanism, form, frazzled standards, and then gives out the experiment scheme.Chapter3. We expatiate the fundamental methods of texture analysis. After combining the Mathematical Morphology theory and the exterior characteristics of workpieces, we will monitor indirectly the tool condition by use of mathematical morphology.Chapter 4. The workpieces' exterior texture images gathered in the experiment are processed by 4 methods, of which is the most important one — Mathematical Morphology method, and are performed in Matlab language. Finally we compare its result with the 3 fundamental ones.Chapter 5. Summarizing and expectation.
