Elementary Investigation On Nanotechnology Applying To Roller Chains

This paper first bring forward a new idea that apply the nanotechnology to the roller chain , and do some experiments and research on roller chains for motor cycle. Nanoscale science & technology is the crystal of science & technology developing in 20th century, it is one of the three high-tech, and nanotechnology will have further influence to other science,industry and even the social. As a new type of material, nanomaterials will cause the change of industrial structure, create tangible wealth for new economy, nanotechnology is also the lacing between former economy and new economy and will accelerate the upgrading of former product. Chain is a traditional machine elements having a history of thousands years, and it's structure and technology has attained a high level, nanotechnology applying to chain will provide new energy to the traditional elements. This paper introduce the fast developing history of nanotechnology, indicate the current level of nanotechnology is similar with that of computer and information technology in 50s 20th century. The concept of nanotechnology is detailed introduced, include base concept and type of nanomaterials, concept and character of nanoscale particle, the extensively application of nanotechnology in environmental protection field,textile field,chemical industry,cosmetics,coating industry,biomedical field,armament industry,energy field,electron and information technology,auto industry,lubricate field and ceramic industry, further illustrate the broad space in the develop and application of nanotechnology and the large impact nanotechnology will have to the society and economy in all respect. This paper elaborate the present situation of nanotechnology research in China and some developed countries with emphasis, and the nanotechnology developing plan of these countries, show the potentiality and prospect of nanotechnology. This paper introduce the history of chains and discuss the advantage and shortcoming of chains transmission comparing with gear transmission and belt transmission, analyze the forms of chain transmission failure and indicate the position of chains in engineering industry. Then put forward the topic of my paper and show the purpose of my investigation and the large meaning of my study. Base on the fact that roller chain is a large part of chain and wear is main form of chain transmission failure, chose the pin and bush of roller chains for motor cycle to do experiment, try to find a way to make a film on the pin and bush of roller chains for motor cycle, then assemble the pin and bush together with roller and plate to a whole chain and do experiment of wear and life.
