Phase equilibria in the ternary Ce-Co-Al system up to a Co : Ce atomic ratio of 11 : 25 and a Al : Ce atomic ratio of 1 : 3 were studed by means of X-ray powder diffraction and differential thermal analysis. A total of four ternary compounds were identified:Ce2Co15Al2, CeCoAl, CeCoAl4, D(Ce/Co/Al at% about 8/22/70). This isothermal section of Ce-Co-Al ternary system consists of 20 three-phase and 3 two-phase regions.Great efforts were made searching for CeCo13-xAlx , CeCo11-xAlx compounds in Ce (Co, Al) 15, Ce (Co, Al) 11systems , there is not enough evidence of their existence , but some new phases have been found all the same . Since the single-phase samples have not been obtained , their crystal structure cannot be made clear .The magnetic properties of the rich-transition-metal-rare-earth compounds system Ce2Co15-xAl2+x were studed by means of magnetic measurements . The results are : along with Al content increases , the magnetic properties of Ce2Co15-xAl2+x decrease , and change from ferromagnetism to paramagnetism.
