Fabric CAD system have been developed for more than twenty years since late 1970s as an all-around used computer technology. It used the computer to deal with digital information and graphic information when design the fabric. The most important composition of Fabric CAD system is the technology of fabric simulation. Based on the analysis of Fabric CAD status quo and the problems remained, a new way to simulate fabric is put forward in this thesis.The machine waves the fabric accord the stitch. So should get the stitch of textile of fabric before simulation. In chapter 2, an algorithm about how to get the stitch is presented. Abstract three base structures from the fabric structure, then analysis the picture of the textile, accorder the properties of the wave machine, get the data of stitch about how the three base structures arrangement.Build the 3D model of fabric is needed when simulate fabric in 3D space. In chapter 3, an algorithm about how to build the 3D model base on some base circles and tangent of them. Then arrange the base structure accorder the stitch, generate the mesh of the yarn surface, show the mesh then get the result of simulation.Different materials of the yarn will get the different results of the transmutation when some outside force draw the fabric. To simulate the result of the transmutation accorder the material properties will help designer to decide witch material can use in fabric. In chapter 4, a way to show the result of transmutation is presented. Generate the different topology mesh of the fabric accorder different base structure. Then use the mass-spring model to calculate the result of the transmutation. The parameters of the mass-spring model are accorder the properties of the material.Based on the research work above all, a fabric simulation system is introduced in chapter 5, including its buildup, structure and main functions, also with some examplesFinally, the development of fabric simulate system is summarized and the future work is put forward.
