Styrene, flash point 31℃ and explosive limit 1.1-6.1% (volume), is the simplest and most important member of unsaturated aromatic. It's easy for styrene to polymerize and to produce benzaldehyde and formaldehyde in air. Under room temperature, the styrene can take place polymerization reaction for polystyrene, and all related reactions of unsaturated chemical compound can happen in the styrene. So these are inconvenience of styrene's storing and transportation.Storing conditions of styrene almost refer to abroad criterion in our country, and the safety coefficient of the craft index is greater. According to foreign technique, styrene is stored with inhibitor more than 10mg/kg and temperature lower than 13℃ in Storage and Transportation of Factory of Yangzi Petrochemical Co., Ltd. Haven't taken any cooling measures in the process of transportation, loading and unloading of styrene, usually go on under the environment outdoors, there are two problems existing: (1)Is storing temperature of styrene less than 13℃? How many days can product quality not be influenced with temperature rising? (2)Is it safe for transportation, loading and unloading under the environment outdoors? In particular, in summer, temperature more than 31℃, is it safe to load, unload and transport styrene without the protection of nitrogen? All of these are always confusing problems during the process of styrene storing and transportation. At present, There are few reports on styrene's storing and transporting, and only they were aimed at polymerization in the process of styrene production and utilization. There didn't almost be studies on storing conditions of styrene. Therefore, the text investigated effect storing temperature, time, amount of iron rust, oxygen content and inhibitor on styrene's safe storage. Structures of styrene were analyzed with IR spectrum. Safe conditions of styrene storing were optimized with even-design, which aimed to provide radical dates of styrene storing and transportation. Main research content and conclusion:1. Polymer, peroxide and total aldehyde content, and chroma in the styrene were analyzed periodically. It indicated that polymer, peroxide and total aldehyde content increase with increasing of temperature, and polymer content was not more than 15mg/kg for 8 days under 10-30℃ and 17ppm of inhibitor concentration. So styrene is suitable to storing the range of 10-30℃, polymer content isn't exceed index of mass parameters.2. It was found that polymer, peroxide and aldehyde content in the styrene increased with increasing in storing time, and styrene was able to safely stored for 9 days under 10-20℃ and 17ppm of inhibitor concentration, polymer content wasn't exceed 3mg/kg.3. The study demonstrated that effect of the rust on polymer content in the styrene was more; Content of peroxide and aldehyde was influenced by rust which was little, effectof temperature on every index was geater than rust content. Rust content has under 9.9ppm, in which parameters of styrene mass was fit for requirement.4. In present experiments, polymer, peroxide and total aldehyde content increased with increasing of gaseous oxygen. Effect of oxygen content on chroma is greater than temperature. Oxygen content has under 1.8%, inhibitor concentration has 14.2ppm, temperature less than 27 °C ,so styrene can store 9 days.5. The inhibition of different inhibitor was studied, and the result indicated that styrene was stored for 3days with the temperature range of 18-50°C and inhibitor concentration of 20ppm, it was found that the order of inhabitation was TBOhydroquinone>anthraquinone. With temperature lower than 30°C, storing time of 3 days and inhibitor TBC concentration larger than 15ppm, polymer content were fit for the demand of parameter index.6. Through even-design experiment, safe conditions of styrene storing are: ? polymer lower than lOmg/kg, 18°C, lOppm of inhibitor concentration, styrene could be stored safely for 13days. (2)25 °C, 17ppm of inhibitor concentration, and polymer content in styrene was lower than 15ppm, it could be stored safely for lOdays,7. When styrene was stored for 66 hours at 60 "C, polymer content increased 15.58mg/kg. It was found that there was polymer structures of styrene through IR spectrum.8. Had identified by experimental data, Reaction series less than 2 was suitable to describe thermal polymerization series of styrene without inhibitor under relatively low temperature.
