Synchronous on-line detect of welding process parameters and droplet transfer image in GMAW-P plays an important role in determining the effect of welding process parameter on the metal transfer, and contribute much to metal transfer control, arc stability and good weld quality.Based on High-Frame Rate Vision Monitoring and data acquisition techniques, a welding process parameter and molten droplet image acquiring system has been built. By using the software LabView7.1, the software for weld process parameter and molten droplet image acquiring system based on data-acquisition card PCI2003 has been formulated, by means of which the following function can be realized: 1) on-time data-acquisition, display and saving of current and voltage signals and; 2) synchronous acquisition, re-displays and analysis of welding process parameters and molten droplets images. The welding process parameter and molten droplet image acquiring system built in this paper were used to synchronously detect welding process parameters and molten droplet images in conventional GMAW . The current and voltage waveforms obtained match well the metal transfer process images detected. This proved that this system is exact and effective in synchronous on-line detect of welding process parameters and droplet transfer image in GMAW-P.The effect of the metal transfer current and ratio between the lasting time of different pulsing current and metal transfer current on the metal transfer and the shape of the molten droplets have been investigated by using welding process parameter and molten droplet image acquiring system. The result shows that it is helpful to realize "one pulse one droplet" in a wider current area by reasonably designing the waveforms of the pulse current.
