The development of photocatalysts that show a high activity under visible light irradiation is needed in order to utilize sunlight or rays from artificial sources more effectively in photocatalytic reactions. For this purpose, S-doped TiO2 thin films witch have not been reported in the past were prepared on soda-lime glass substrates via the sol-gel method using the TiO2 sol solution. DTA, UV-Vis, XRD ,XPS observation and techniques were used to characterize the S-doped TiO2 thin films and The photocatalytic activity of the catalysts was tested with Rhodamine B as the objective decomposition substance under visible light. And experiment results show that the S-doped TiO2 thin films absorption onset extends well into the visible region at λ530nm and has a higher photocatalytic activity than TiO2 thin films under visible light irradiation. S6+ takes place of Ti in the lattice of TiO2 thin films.
