The undetected or misjudge problem of on testing by ultrasonic waves of welding seam is a very conspicuous problem. One of the important causes is that our judgment has deviation when we determine the size, shape and property of the reflected waves. Therefore, pointing to the above situation, we do roundly systematic analysis about the very conspicuous problem in the testing by ultrasonic waves of welding seam. We carry on roundly in-depth discuss from the genesis of the defects to rational choice of the crack detection measure. By means of a lot of on scene testing, pointing to the cause of the undetected or misjudge problem, we do systematic theoretical analysis, indicating the similarities and differences between the sound field of the multiple frequency and single frequency impulse wave, at the same time, explaining the influence with defect ration. In addition, this paper analyzes and discusses emphatically formative defect positioning magnitude of error because of the difference of the check block aperture and measuring head K value, according to the echo character, this paper study emphatically how to adjudicate accurately the sort of the defect. The locating of the defect is the most important link. When we come into force curved ultrasonic testing, the orientation parameter and sound distance is non-linear, and therefore, we cannot adopt the same method with the plane crack detection, in this paper, we offer a method of calculation adapting site operation. Pointing to the safety evaluation problem of the defect, according to the defect information that was detected by the ultrasonic analyzer, this paper applies fracture mechanics adequately, chooses the standard IIW that was established by international welding congress, goes on with the efficient safety evaluation. As a result, this paper carries out the organic unify of the detection and evaluation of defect.
