Paper-making is a complex industrial process with nolinear, long delay and strong coupling. paper moisture must be controlled effectively because it's one of the two most important parameters of paper quality. Due to the problems of instrument performance and shortage of fund, the moisture of low basis weight paper and high basis weight cardboard can not be controlled effectively. As a rising industry technique, Soft Sensing Technique has wide applicable prospects and has become one of the main research fields in process examine technique and instrument. The study of this paper is to achieve effective control of moisture through building soft sensor model. The main content are as follows: 1. The background and applicable prospects of Soft Sensing Technique are introduced after studying a lot of reference, the significance and probability about Soft Sensing Technique research on paper moisture are expounded. 2. The Recursive Least Square based on Lethe gene, Partial Least Square, BP Nerve Network,which are wide applied in process control, are discussed detailedly respectively. The characteristic and their domain applicable fields of each model and their mend models are systematically analysed. 3. There are five important soft sensor models of moisture have been established in this paper: the moisture model of The Recursive Least Square based on Lethe gene, the moisture model of Principal Component Regression , the moisture model of Partial Least Square, the moisture model of BP Nerve Network, the moisture model based on PLS—BP. All of these soft sensor models of moisture are systematically analysed by using Compound Correlative Coefficient. The factors which influence control of moisture are discussed on detail in this paper. The study of this project is of great significant for the moisture of paper being controlled effectively. Which also provide experience and technique for using Soft Sensing Technique to resolve the problems that parameters are difficult measured in paper-making process.
