Recovery sericite from tailings is more important to the utilization of waste solid for the mining. Shandong mine is the large gold mine of our country. The year disposal of it is 380000t. The output of tailings is 35000t a year,and 55% large granularity tailings is used under the well as filler. The remainder tailings are piled by the sea side, and polluted environment around it. Because of increase of operating costs on land, dam and transportation etc, the continuative development of mine is badly effected. Recovery sericite from tailings belongs to the problem of environmental protection, which can resolve the pollution of tailings and sewage to water resource, crop nearby the mine, and the air. At the same time,it is a problem to recover useful mineral. Hence, synthetical utilization of tailings is the significant research target of mine at the moment. Recovering sericite from tailings is used widely, after thorough process, sericite become stuffing of rubber, lift elongation intensity, lacerated intensity and avulsion stretchy rate of vulcanizes gum, etc. The sericite has high practical value. Otherwise, The sericite is used widely in the paint, plastic material, welding electrode industry, metallurgical industry, papermaking and ceramics etc. Although the harvest is acquired in our country about development and application of sericite resources, there are some problems. The degree of pureness of sericite recovered from tailings is not high. The hardness of sericite is weak, and size is small. The sericite is commensal with quartz and feldspar. Their densitys are close, with shape of slice and dollop. There are wrappage of magnetite and hematite in the sericite and not to be easily enriched, which result in problems of sericite mill run, The common mill run is not proper. There are no good means of mill run at the moment. Although achieve enrichment of sericite, content of silicon dioxide is high, and content of alumina low. And most sericite can not reach a perfect purity, which affect application and price of sericite. For advanced process and synthesis application of sericite, most products have low production value ,low quality ,and high cost. The proportion of refined products which have high production value and benefit is low. The content of sericite is low in the gangue in this experimentation(13.53%), and distributing is not even. A large part of sericite are enwrapped by feldspar, which pertains to silicate mineral as well as sericite. So the separation and enrichment is difficult. The proportion of feldspar and quartz is 80% in the gangue, existing in big guanules. There are also some iron compounds in the gangue, which are difficult to flotate.
