Phenol is an important raw material or midst substance of production in paper making, coking, oil refining, plastic, pesticide and medicine synthesis industries. With the development of economy, phenol wastewater without being treated has been imposed a serious threaten on our environment. It is an economic and effective way to treat phenol wastewater with the method of microorganism biodegradation. Moreover, the way does not have second pollution. Since phenol wastewater has a trait in difficult degradation, bacterium is introduced into the process of organism treatment to degrade phenol and adapt to the changes of impingement load.Based on the above problem, biodegradation of phenol waste water is studied and main study object is to cultivate well-performed strains, PD2, which can grow on the cultivating group based on phenol as the sole source of carbon and energy, and these strains were filtered from wastewater and soil samples which were polluted by phenol wastewater at the wastewater treatment station of a methanol factory in Jiangyou, Sichuan province. The color of the strain's clone is orange, which surface is with wrinkle. Observed under a light microscope, the shape of the single cells is pole, and the cells have flagellum and endospore. The cells of the strain are Gram-positive. The hydrogen peroxide reaction of the strain is Gram-positive. The best environmental conditions for the growth and phenol degradation of bacterium PD2 are 30℃ and pH 7.5 respectively. The method is to gradually raise the condensation degree of phenol for bacterium PD2 step by step here. The result shows that the phenol degrading abilities are greatly promoted from 500mg/L to 2000mg/L. Main elements of the cultivating group such as carbon sources, nutritious elements have an important effect on the growth and phenol degradation of bacterium PD2. Meanwhile, increasing inoculation amount in certain range can speed up the reaction rate and shorten delaying phrase. The best inoculation amount is 10%.Through studying its degrading rate, it be found that the growth and phenol...
