Two-photo absorption (TPA) materials have arisen great interests due to their application in two-photo fluorescence microscopy, 3D data storage, micro-fabrication, photodynamic therapy and laser up-converted materials. Based on the investigation of tremendous literatures and according to the characteristics of strong TPA structures, we have designed and synthesized a series of new compounds and systemically researched their optical properties via experiments and theoretical calculation.The thesis includes four chapters:In the first chapter, the latest researched developments of TPA materials in the world were review. Meanwhile, the relationship between structures and properties were explored.In the second chapter, a series of pyridine derivatives are synthesized. We obtained 15 coordination compounds in all, which have been charactered with IR,MS, Elemental Analysis, NMR and x-ray diffraction.In the third chapter, the optical properties of all compounds above have been systematically studies, we also researched the Electronic Absorption Spectra, one-photon fluorescence, solvent effect. TPA absorption coefficients have been got by Z-Scan.In the fourth chapter, we studied their optical properties by quantum chemistry method .All calculated results are consistent with experimental values.In conclusion, the work in this thesis presented a good exploration for designing molecules giving strong TPA.
