Due to its much greater abundance compared with other kinds of fossil energy in China, coal resource will take an important position in the energy construction. The combustion of coal leads to the emission organic pollutants into the environment. Those organic pollutants are few in quantities but multifarious. These products represent a risk to both environment and health. In allusion to this problem, by using of S-extractor, circum-evaporator, layered column chromatography, combined GC/MS, the forms of organic pollutants in coal and the emission characteristics of organic pollutants during the process of coal combustion were systematically studied. In order to analyze organic pollutants emitted from raw coals and coal burning correctly, effectively, conveniently, a complete analysis method, involving sampling, pretreatment and detection, was established. Based on this method, organic pollutants in the CH2Cl2/CH3OH extracts of five typical coals were studied and the influences of the volatile and fixed carbon were evaluated.Furthermore, some experiments concerning organic pollutants from the coal combustion were done in the small simulation furnace, five factors, such as volatile, fixed carbon, H/C, O/C, temperature, etc. to possibly influence organic pollutants emission were analyzed in this article. At the same time, hearth residue and fly ash from dust catcher were gathered from several power plants. Data of non-PAHs in those samples were obtained and adopted to analyze the change of organic pollutants in different combustion modes. In this paper, a brand-new technology--solid phase microextraction (using a 100μ m polydimethylsiloxane coated fiber) coupled with GC/MS was used to determinedthe VOCs in the raw coal. Compared with the conventional sampling anddetermination technology, SPME is a fast, solvent-free, simple method, in whichsampling, extraction and concentration were incorporated into one step.
