The dynamic compression test of a low alloy steel has been done by Split Hopkinson presurre bar (SHPB) in this paper. Effect of temperature and strain rate on the dynamic yield strength and constitutive relation of the Steel has been analyzed. The main results are as follows:The dynamic compression test of the alloy steel has been done by SHPB apparatus under various temperatures and strain rates by using the dimension of specimen Φ 10 × 6mm. The relationship of dynamic yield strength to temperature and strain rateand the constitutive relationand the parameters of strain rate hardening and viscosity effect were obtained for low alloy steel. The results indicate that the deformation mechanic under the action of temperature and strain rate is related to the viscosity effect in process of dislocation motions. The dynamic compression test on a low alloy steel has been done by SHPB under various strain rates by using the dimension of specimen Φ 10 × 5mm and Φ 8 × 6mm. The results indicate that the parameters of strain rate hardening and viscosity effect have no relation with the dimension of specimen during 0.5~ 0.75 of the rate of length and diameter. The dynamic compression test on SHPB has been simulated by FEM under Effect strain rate. The result abtained by FEM fits the result of the dynamic compression test on SHPB...
