The existing method (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, ELISA) for detection of Chloramphenicol(CAP) is simple, operational easily, time-saved and highly sensitive. Distribution of chloramphenicol residues in edible tissues of poultry was investigated on this paper, and accumulative toxic phenomenon to poultry bodies was described as well. Avian spoilers and TianFu ducks were divided, respectively, into four groups: blank group(0 mg/kg bw),Group l(low dosage group, 50mg/kg bw), Group 2(mediated dosage group,100mg/kg bw), and Group 3(high dosage group,500mg/kg bw). After poultry was bred continuously with chloramphenicol orally for 25 days, they were anatomized and tissues residue was detected and toxicity was observed. The results as follows: range from 0~500mg/kg bw CAP, the rules of CAP residue in the poultry were shown: the relationship is linear between CAP residue of tissue and oral dosage in Avian spoilers and TianTu ducks(P<0.05). In the same dosage , the most amounts of CAP residue were dectected in liver, then in kidney ,in heart and in spleen, the smallest amounts in meat. What is more, the amount of liver is much higher than that of meat. It was shown that, in the Group 3, the amounts of residue in liver and in meat were 439.817ng/kg and 48.785ng/kg individually. So the liver, with the highest amount of residue, in which CAP was remained for long time and eliminated slowly, was the optimal tissue compared with meat tissue.Range from 50~500mg/kg bw, CAP could not induce significant reductions in red blood cells count, but invisible changes of pathology happen with these tissues of heart, intestine wall and liver. Some liquid was in the membrane of heart surface, and intestine wall with blood dot partly, the liver was intumescent notably, in addition. The weight of liver added up 25.8 per cent comparing with blank group of Avianspoilers, and 39.6 per cent of Tianfu ducks. In addition, the abnormal behavior of both animals happened which was induced by CAP.The results shown above can be applied in poultry inspection during the course of slaughter. During this course, we can observed whether the behavior is abnormal, whether pathologic changes happen in the tissues, the suspend samples are picked up by the invisible phenomena and then detected by ELISA. The accidents of CAP residue, the ones of not detectable but with residue, and the ones of suspend but with no residue can be avoid availably. Scientific data was provided for detection and sanitation of poultry food in this research.
