Photopolymerization of multifunctional monomers or oligomers, also called photocuring, has become a well-accepted technology which has been found a large variety of industrial applications because of its unique advantages, such as efficient, enabling, economical, energy-saving, environmental friendly, etc. In this thesis, the development of photocuring has been reviewed briefly. In this thesis, two triarylsulfonium salts (UVI-6976 and UVI-6992) were chosen, and the kinetics of their photo-induced cationic polymerization were investigated by real-time infrared spectroscopy (RT-FTIR), in which four epoxides were employed as monomers. The kinetics results indicated the reactivity of UVI-6976 was higher than UVI-6992. The effect of the different concentrations of UVI-6976 on kinetics was investigated. The results indicated that when the concentration increased from 0.5wt% to 1.0wt%, the rate of polymerization and conversion increased dramatically, but further increase of the initiator concentration only caused small amount increase of conversion. The results also indicated that tmax was identical at different concentrations of UVI-6976. Dark reaction results indicated that there was strong post-curing process for the epoxide-based monomer. The reactivity of different epoxy monomers was compared. The results showed that the final conversion increased at following order K-126
