Recent years, High speed machining (HSM) is growing up rapidly as advancedmanufacturing technology. It has been developed and explored for 70 years.Nowadays, HSM has becoming one of the main trains of modern manufacturingtechnology. Applying HSM technology correctively and rationally, has alreadybecome one of valuable approaches to improve working efficiency and work-piecequality.The applications of CAM in HSM is researched and practiced in this paper, with theitem of Tianjin natural science fund. The main work is fellows:1. The developments of HSM, the features and applications of HSM, and the keytechnologies of HSM are summarized.2. The tool-path planning and generating of HSM are analyzed, and through aluminumalloy convex curved surface part machining, the adapted tool-path planning policeand processing parameters are given.3. The influence factors of surface roughness in the case of envelope machining withball nosed mill cutter are investigated, and the relation between radial and axiscutting depth, and surface roughness and cutting efficiency is established by meansof experiments.4. The processing technique and processing parameter for thin-section aluminum alloypart machining are analyzed and experimental investigated, and the aluminum alloypart with thin-section of 0.1mm thick and 15mm height has been machinedsuccessfully.All the research work is of importance for development of HSM and directingproduction.
