The Improvement Of Caffeine Synthesis

The caffeine is an important exit product in Chinese pharmaceutical industry. It has over 40 years production history in China. The main synthesizing process has been well developed. The production of caffeine need many equipments, facilities, raw materials, post-dealing processes (such as purification, abstracting, etc), and great manpower for the long synthesize process. With HPLC analysis, filtration and purification technology, we optimize the synthesis process of caffeine and make it more efficiency and fluency so as to decrease manpower using, lower the manufacturing costs, improve competitive ability in the market.With the full studies of all kinds of synthesis method and the last developments in its industry, we give more attention to the post-dealing process of caffeine. We put forward not-to-separate process of sodium theophylline ( an intermediate of caffeine) , and studied its influence to the crude caffeine and finished caffeine in yield and quality. After putting forward and adding some processes of decolorring and filtrating, there are no obvious difference in yields and quality between the not-to-separate process and the separate process (normal process). The product is white,crystalline powder;melting point is 236-238℃,related substances less than 0.5%,and assay is in 99.0-100.5%, comply to the pharmacopoeia requirement.Using not-to-separate process of sodium theophylline ,wecan delete many procedures such as crystallization and centrifugation step of sodium theophylline, abstracting process of its mother liquor, and greatly diminish the flowing procedure, process time, manpower, raw materials, motivity expense, equipment invest of caffeine. At the same time, it has great environmental protection meaning for having diminished a great deal of waste water and greatly cutting down the total amount of COD created in the caffeine's production. This will match the national requirement of developing circulation economics . So, there is a great meaning to the developing of caffeine's industry.
