Pipes line is important way of petroleum transportation all along.Inview of Pipes line accident lead up to national economy's great loss, pipesline's corrosion become the most important question of corrosion domain.Corroded pipe lines residual strength study is sub- topic of the pipelinesecurity Evaluating topic.When line pipes are corroded, that is ,coatingsfirst had been damaged and cathode protection system had been failed too ,thisis will have a direct threat to the integrity and safety of pipelines.As the basis of study, various assessment method in engineering ofcorroded pipeline was summarized. To overcome the limitation and disadvantageof existed assessment method, the Finite Element Analysis was performed oncorroded pipeline to obtain more accurate solution in which the elastic modelconsidered the nonlinear of Geometry and the nonlinear of material was used.The comparison between result of Finite Element Analysis and that of existedcriteria shows that the residual strength of corroded pipeline predicted bythe FEM is greater than that predicted by existed criteria and has a goodaccuracy. At the same time, the analysis also verified the conservation ofexisted criteria. The result can provide reference on engineeringpractice.And analyzing the finite element with the finite elementsoftware,the establishment of entity model Grid and Grid partition as wellas restraint and load etc. are very troublesome and very important.Sometimesin the process of establishment of entity model , error take place due to notnotice, so that it influences result. For similar analysis model, e.g. thesame structure but some size differences, we will do plenty of repetitive works.Adopting operation pattern of batch processing, automatic generation modelwith order stream of save a lot of time , can again avoid mistake occur. So,working efficiency is raised.A software used to assess the residual strength and reliability ofcorroded pipeline was developed by Matlab software. The software includes thegeneral assessment methods used in pipeline industry nowadays. Simple and lessaccurate assessment can be performed by this software. The software hasfriendly user interface and is easy to use.
