MCM-41 possesses a series of excellent qualities such as regular arrangement of channels, narrow pore size distribution and huge adsorptive volume. These make the material have wide application prospect in many fields. The molecular sieve MCM-41 with different pore diameters was synthesized with Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as the liquid crystal template and 1, 3, 5-trimethylbenzene (TMB) as assistant agent. The samples were characterized by water absorption ratio, X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen adsorption-desorption, small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results show that all the samples have the typical structural of mesoporous material, and TMB have obvious influence to the pore diameter, the best mol ratio between TMB and CTAB is 3.On the basis of MCM-41 synthesis, this paper also discussed its adsorption properties to Hg2+ and ammonia-nitrogen, analyzed how the MCM-41 quantity, pH value, consistency, adsorb time and pore diameter affect the adsorb ratio. The result show that MCM-41 is a ideal adsorbent in water purification.Meanwhile, Hg2+ the Langmuir and Freundlich adsorb isotherms were drawn up, the result show that the Hg2+ adsorption is accord with the Langmuir type.At last, analyzed the result of ammonia-nitrogen adsorption by the software of Mintab, found out the return equation, through the equation, we can establish the most reasonable adsorption scheme.
