Anaerobic Baffled Reactor(ABR) is a new kind of high rate anaerobic biological reater. There have been many researches on treatment of high strength organic wastewater in ABR in domestic, but few reasearches on nitrogen and phosphorus removal in ABR.On the basic of previous researches, we study the performance of the start-up and steady-state. Highly study nitrogen and phosphorus removal in ABR and after aerobic post-treatment.The experimengtal results showed that ABR should be started under low loading. At the same time, pH should be supervised strictly and should be adjusted between 6.5 and 7.5 in order to avoid the acidification to occur. ABR operated well on 30℃. During the steady-state performance, when the COD and HRT, temperature are 3000mg/L, 24h, 30℃ the efficiency of COD removal can reach 99.1%. The gas production is very high in the second chamber of ABR, can reach 11.88L/d average. ABR has the ability to low granular slugde wash out. On nitrogen removal, the rate of nitrogen removal reach between 70% and 80% in ABR because of the existence of granular slugde. When wo added carbamide, the rate of nitrogen removal qickly fall, even under 0;after aerobic post-treatmen, the rate of nitrogen removal about 95%. On phosphorus removal, the rate of phosphorus removal under zero;after aerobic post-treatmen, the rate of phosphorus removal can reach between 80% and 85%.
