The new high effective Rotational flow grit chamber is applied widely interiorly recently. Compared with traditional grit, the removing efficiency is improved greatly. It has the advantage that less occupation of land, higher efficient of removing sand, good operating environment, reliable operation of the equipment. Combining of project "863", grit removing mechanism has been discussed in this article on the base of formatting a shrunken grit chamber physical model.On the base of investigating and reading materials, researching status of various grit chamber have been summarized and existing issues have been analyzed in this article. So studying content can be ensured.In this experiment, a shrunken grit chamber physical model has been formatted using the theory of hydraulic similarity, in the base of that a series of single factor experiments and orthogonal experiments have been done, the influence of various hydraulic parameters on the efficiency of removing in the grit chamber have been discussed.In the study of rotational flow grit chamber, there are some factors influencing the efficiency of grit removing generally, such as hydropower condition of the entrance, number of the agitating blade laminas, rotate speed of the agitating blade and distance between the agitating blade and base. This experiment changes the levels of the four important factors and work out the optimization condition of the reaction by orthogonal experiment. The result shows that optimum condition is the number of the agitating blade laminas 6, the residence time SOs, the rotate speed of the agitating blade 26 r/min and the distance between the agitating blade and base 30mm . The efficiency of sand removing can reach 90% under the condition above.On the base of the analysis of vortex dynamics, working mechanism and hydraulic phenomenon of rotational flow grit chamber and hydraulic phenomenon have been explained.
