Water environment of plain river network area is closely associated with society, economy and health of human beings. Studying the simulation method of river network is significant for water quality dynamic change monitoring, water pollution controlling, water environment programming and sustainable development of plain river network area.Because the simulation range of river network is wide, the water quality is mostly simulated in numerical method. In order to solve the problem of accuracy reduction brought by the even mixing hypothesis of at 'typical' nodes, after summarizing the achievements made by the scholars in and out of China about the research of river network water quality simulation, the paper has put forward the river network water quality simulation method which is based on the uneven mixing hypothesis of nodes. The paper improved the disposing method of typical crossing. The paper made up a calculating example, figured out the water quality responsing coefficients by founding the 1-D hydrodymanic model and 2-D hydrodynamic-water quality model, and then founded the corresponding water quality model of the river network. The results were validated. At last, the method of the paper was applied to a part of the water system around Suzhou city, also getting satisfying results. This method can supply more accurate theory for the water resource programming and management of plain river network area.
