Microwave-absorbing nanomaterials is the developing radar absorbing materials. Microwave-absorbing aluminum base composites with magnetic iron nanowire array were successfully prepared by electrochemical deposition in the porous anodic aluminum oxide template on aluminum base, The nanowire array in the aluminum oxide template can prevent the electronic conduction between nanowires, and exert all advantages of nanowires in radar absorbing. The aluminum base composites with iron nanowire array showed excellent microwave absorbing properties and important promising in application. In theory, electromagnetic parameters and microwave absorbing properties of iron magnetic fiber and radar absorbing materials with iron magnetic fibers were studied, and the derived models were numerically analyzed. Decreasing the diameter of fiber and increasing the length-diameter ratio of fiber can increase the axial (radial) permeability and the axial (radial) permittivity, and directional aligning of the fibers can enhance the magnetic loss and the dielectric loss. The effective electromagnetic parameters of the absorbing materials increase along with the increase of the fiber absorbent content, the increase of the fiberlength-diameter ratio of the composite absorbing materials and the decrease of the diameter of fiber. The aluminum base porous anodic aluminum oxide templates with the different diameter and length-diameter ratio nanopore were prepared by changing the condition of anodization and hole enlarging treatment. The magnetic iron nanowire arrays were fabricated by electrochemical deposition into the pore space of the template. The nanowires in the array were the same in diameter and parallel each other. The diameter and length-diameter ratio of the nanowires were adjusted in the experiments. The measurements on the microwave absorbing properties of aluminum base composites with iron nanowire arrays showed that reflectivity was in inverse proportion to the surface resistance of the composites. Decreasing the diameter of the nanowires enhanced the microwave absorbing properties, especially in the high frequency .The excellent microwave absorbing properties in the high frequency of the iron nanowire arrays possibly results from the nanometer effect and resonance effect.
