In order to realize networked and remote control of CNC systems, it is the basic work to build a kinematics and dynamic model of CNC machine tools and it is of great theoretical and practical significance to optimize the model through simulation. According to the kinematics and dynamic characteristics of machine tools, with the consideration of the advantages of virtual prototype technology on system analysis, a systematic scheme is provided. On the basis of analyzing the dynamic performance of machine tools, the virtual prototype technology is regarded as the key technology of the performance simulation system. The systematic scheme of such a simulation system is also studied. After comparing several modeling methods, a kinematics model is built according to the characteristics of the kinematics scheme and the modeling theory. The nonlinear characteristics of friction in mechanical system are analyzed. And then different friction models are compared. According to the characteristics of friction in servo-drive systems, an effective friction model is developed referring to the Karnopp model. On the basis of the characteristic analysis of the two engineering software ADAMS and Pro/Engineer, an CAD model of CNC machine tools and an ADAMS simulation model are designed to be integrated through MECHANISM/Pro. Then an CNC simulation system is developed in the ADAMS/View environment. Whether the kinematics model is correct or not and the influence of friction force to positioning accuracy are analyzed in this simulation environment by simulating the performance of an CNC system.
