2,6-diisopropylnaphthalene(2,6-DIPN) is a potentially useful raw material forproduction of polyethylene naphthalate (PEN), polybutylene naphalate(PBN) andliquid crystalline polymers (LCP) with superior properties. It can be synthesized fromtwo common chemicals, naphthalene and propylene. How to industrialize the processof producing 2,6-DIPN is getting more and more studied in the world recently. Mostof these studies focused on looking for new catalysts with high activity and selectivityand optimizing the reaction conduction to raise the yield. The comment on application and synthetic method of 2,6-diisopropylnaphthalene, shape-selective reaction mechanism and modifying ofzeolite molecular sieves, and the development of silicoaluminophosphate molecularsieve were reviewed detailedly. Continuing the past works, Naphthalene andpropylene as raw material alkylate in the presence of catalysts which have beenprepared. When SAPO-5 zeolite was used as catalyst, the effects of the ratio ofpropylene and naphthalene, catalyst concentration, reaction temperature and reactiontime on the conversion (based on naphthalene), yield and selectivity (both based on2,6-DIPN) were discussed. In addition, by orthogonal experiment, the optimumreaction conditions were determined at the same time. The optimum reactionconditions:The molar ratio of propylene and naphthalene =1:2, catalystconcentration=8%,reaction temperature was 270℃, reaction time was about 8h.The present study is related to the manufacture of silicoaluminophosphates(SAPO)sieve with the impregnation of cerium and the catalysts of HM,Hβ, and wasevaluated respectively. These products were analysted by means of gaschromatography in order to evaluate various catalysts. As far as the desired 2, 6-diisopropylnaphthalene product was concerned;the result showed that the catalysts ofmordenite with the impregnation of cerium have some shape selective and catalyticperformance. The characteristic properties of the catalysts were studied by XRD andBET. The effects on the reaction brought from those catalysts were also investigated.Experimental results were discussed detailedly.
