Along with worsening of the environmental quality of our earth, people have been paying more and more attention on environmental protection. Some traditoinal treating methods for wastewater can't work well any more, because they have some shortcomings, such as large amounts of byproduct complicate after processing and second pollution, and so on. As a result, their application was limited. However, the photocatalytic oxidation technique have been paid more and more attention for the advantage of less energy cost, mild reaction conditions, easy operation, less secondary pollution, and so on. In this paper, we chose Cuprous Oxide as research object and focus on its preparation and application in photocatalytic oxidation.Cuprous oxide is a new kind of inorganic material, which is widely used in many fields because of its excellent properties, and research on it very active in recent years. Although there are many methods to prepare cuprous oxide currently, it seldom gets cuprous oxide with equirotal grains and stable characterization, and many methods are extraordinary complicated in operation.Nano-sized Cuprous Oxide was prepared by the methods of deoxidized by hydration hydrazine and hydrolysis of cuprous chloride. The products was analyzed and characterized by using XRD, SEM. The optional reaction condition of preparing cuprous oxide is confirmed. The influence, of which different reaction conditions in different methods, to resulted particles are discussed respectively. The raw materials are easy to obtain in the method of hydrolysis of cuprous chloride under irradiation of ultrasonic. The operation is very simple and no special demand on equipment. The resulted particles with this method have a very high purity. The results of single-factor experiments in constant pressure showed that the main factor which influenced the products are reaction temperature, dispersants and their quantity and so on. The optimal experiment conditions in constant pressure are: 20℃ as temperature, Dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid sodium salt as dispersant, and the dosage of dispersant is 4.5g/L, the resulted particles are yellow, with high purity, and the average particle size is about 12.7nm.We take Red Acid as research object, the resulted particles have been applied to photodegradate dye wastewater, various parameters such as the concentration of wastewater, amount of catalyst, et al, have been discussed in detail. Under the irradiation of sun's rays, the degradation efficiency of Acid Red solution of lOmg/L can reach 97.96% after 6h irradiation when the solid-solution proportion is 3.3g/L. Moreover, the catalyst made by this method can be reused in many cycles with slight decrease in photocatalytic capacity, the degradation efficiency of Acid Red solution can reach 70% after 7 cycles. The investigation on dynamics of photocatalytic degradation for Red Acid showed that it was in agreement with one order dynamics model. At last, the elementary study about coating Gaolin compound on CU2O particles are carried out. The products are analyzed by SEM. The photocatalytic degradation experiments' results prove that the products have a high pohotocatalytic degradation efficiency and long reuse cycle. Under the irradiation of sun's rays, the degradation efficiency of Acid Red solution of 5mg/L can reach 92.1% after 6h irradiation when the solid-solution proportion is lg/L, the photocatalytic degradation efficiency of Acid Red solution can reach 65% after 7 cycles.
