Hyperbranched polymers are a special kind of polymers with many terminalgroups and highly branched structures. These macromolecules display importantapplications in various areas, including adsorption self-assembly and coatings. In thisdissertation, the synthesis, structure and properties of three kinds of hyperbranchedpoly (ester-amine)s were studied. The main research works are as follows:1. Aliphatic hyperbranched poly(ester-amines)s (defined as SAL) with amineend-groups were synthesized by Michael addition reaction between phthalicdiglycoldiacrylate (PDDA) and 1-(2-Amino-ethyl)piperazine (AEP) via one-step procedure. The effect of reaction time on degree of polymerization and degree of branching (DB)was studied by using laurylamine as the reaction stopper. The polymers were furthercured wtih β -glycidyl oxyl propyl trimethoxysilane (KH560) under ambientcandition to form coatings with good performances. The effect of polymer structureon the mechanical properties of the cured coatings was also studied2. Hyperbranched poly(ester-amine)s (defined as ASB) with terminal acrylategroups were prepared from trimethylolpropanetriacrylate (TMPTA) and piperazinevia one-step procedure. With ASB as polycation, multilayer films were fabricatedfrom ASB and poly(sodium-p-styrenesulfonate) (PSS) by layer-by-layer dipping. ThepH of ASB sulation on assembling process, morphology of the film was studied. Thefilm with ASB as the outmost layer was further modified by reactive reagents bearingamine group.3. Hyperbranched poly(ester-amine)s (defined as HPEA) with terminalsecondary amine groups were synthesized from TMPTA and excessive piperazine. The polymers were further cured wtih bisphenol A epoxy resin under ambientcondition. The influence of polymer structure on the mechanical properties andthermal properties of the cured coatings was studied.
