TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared by sol-gel method in few water system. Meanwhile, Some important factors such as calcined time, temperature and water content were investigated. It indicated that the better calcined treating condition was 500℃ for 1 h for the degradation of methyl orange (Within 2 h, methyl orange was completely degradated by UV). The XRD patterns indicate that the longer the calcined time is, the smaller the ratio of Anatase and Rutile is at the same temperature. In addition, the TEM patterns also show that the more the water content is, the bigger the size of nanoparticles is. The crystal size of nanoparticles prepared by sol-gel method in few water system is uniform and the size is about 10 nm,while the size is about 20 nm in 5 ml water system. Pb, CdS doped TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared by sol-gel method in few water system. The results showed that the photocatalytic activities of Pb and CdS doped TiO2 nanoparticles could be enhanced in photodegradation of methyl orange . Meanwhile, the light response of material was induced to shift to the visible region. Under UV and sunlight, the photocatalytic activities of 2% Pb doped TiO2 and 8% CdS doped TiO2 nanoparticles in degradation can reach 98% and 60% in 15 min, respectively. In addition, Pb and CdS doped TiO2 nanoparticles have the rutile vanished but anatase.Under UV, 120 h photodegradation of methyl orange performed in order to investigate photocorrosion of the catalysts. The results indicate that the photocorrosion had photocatalytic activities of Pb and CdS doped TiO2 nanoparticles decreased. The further research is essential to solve the photocorrosion in order to enhance photocatalytic activities of Pb and CdS doped TiO2 nanoparticles.
