In this paper, ZnO crystals were synthesized by hydrolysis method at high temperature and the effects of various chemical vapor conditions (temperature and substrate) on the size, shape and quality of ZnO crystal were studied. It was found that the high quality ZnO crystals could be synthesized on the SiC and Al2O3 substrates, and the best condition of temperature was from 500 to 550℃. ZnO film was obtained on the ZnO and Al2O3 substrates, but the crystal quality needed to be improved. The spiral epitaxy of ZnO crystal on the ZnO(0001) substrate could be observed clearly. Furthermore, the optical capability of SnO2 and Fe2O3 films were studied.Moreover, Zn1-xCoxO crystals were synthesized by chemical vapor transport technique at 970℃. Different Co doped Zn1-xCoxO crystals were obtained by changing the content of Co2O3 in the raw material. It was found that Zn1-xCoxO crystals show the hexagonal feature of ZnO wurtzites, and the morphology of the crystal varied with the concentration of Co doped in Zn1-xCoxO.
