The development of science and technology will have more contributions to the development of our society and the survival environment of human beings, when we enter into the twenty first century. In this new century, the technologies of information science, life science and nanoscience are the main stream of modern science development. Their development will make our society, survival environment and science and technology become better and better. Nanoscinecne and technology was formed in the 1980s in twenties century and is now being developed. It concern on the realization and reconstruction of nature, discussing the electrons, atoms, molecules and directly manipulating atom, molecules for creation of new materials;its final aim is helping us to manipulate single atoms on our own purpose and fabricate products with special functions.ZnS semiconducting nanomaterials have demonstrated specific properties in the fields of optics, electronics, magnetisms, catalysts and mechanisms, et al. The properties of ZnS are strongly related to its phase and morphology. Therefore, the synthesis of ZnS nanostructures with controlled particle size, shape, orientation will have important applications in industry. In this thesis, we discuss the synthesis and characterization of ZnS nanomaterials. The main contents are shown below:1. Primarily study the synthesis and photoluminescence of AAO templates.2. Solution-based synthesis of ZnS nanostructures and discussion of their optical properties.3. Synthesis of ZnS nanostructures with different morphologies by CVD method. In this section, we have discussed the effects of temperature on the final morphology, and further proposed the growth mechanism, as well as the optical properties of these nanostructures.
