As cast CAD/CAE practical technology get application progressively and the corresponding commercialized software is used in practice step by step, applying these advanced technology of CAD/CAE to product development and quality improving has very important economic and academic meanings. In this paper, the product development is finished by combining the technical design, numerical simulation and the practical experiment;furthermore, build up a new technique and process of product development.It utilizes design software Pro/E to create three-dimensional modeling for casting steel bottom ring and bent axle, uses the casting numerical simulation software MAGMA to carry on the filling and solidification numerical simulation analysis of castings in this paper. And put up CAD/CAE research on bottom ring and bent axle pieces of the whole course, MAGMA has good appraisal functions to casting technology optimization design, this paper succeeds in using it to go on the filling and solidification numerical simulation of castings, reflects actual state of castings accurately, predicts defect that may appears during filling and solidification process then ascertains the position of the defect. Putting riser close to castings' hot-spot position, it makes castings solidify orderly, it can improve hot-spot state effectively, can achieve the goal of dispelling and controlling the defect , proves that the casting technology of utilizing numerical simulation to optimize is effective and feasible. And bottom ring piece is produced in fact, casting quality can up to it is required to.The CAD/CAE study about bottom ring and bent axle of the overall process has realized to guide production with science and technology, it goes on some beneficial exploration and try for applying CAD/CAE technology to cast producing in the future.In a word, applying CAD/CAE technology to cast industry can study the whole course of cast production with speediness, nicety, low cost. To adopt this technology for changing the blindness completely while making the casting technology scheme, guaranteeing casting quality, raising productivity of casting and even promoting cast technological progress has very important function.
