So much subsidence area was caused by the exploitation of coal mine in Huainan, and water area formed as a result was increasing. The ecological environment was restricted and ecosystem was destroyed badly along with water quality getting worse. So the community characteristics of zooplankton were studied in order to find particularity of subsidence water area to others and provide scientific foundation to their sustainable development. The community zoology of zooplankton in Xie-er South pond was studied from Apr. 2005 to Mar. 2006. The species and community diversity of zooplankton as well as relations of community to physico-chemical indices were analyzed, at the same time they were compared with that of Gaotang lake. The results indicate:133 species of zooplankton was recorded(35 protozoan,65 rotifer,18 cladocera and 15 copepoda). 67 and 72 species wer recorded in summer and autumn,33 in spring and 32 in winter, and species appearing all the yearround were 19.Annual fluctuation of abundance and biomass was close in 3 locations. Abundance was 1030 to 8860 ind./L and biomass from 0.155 to 3.693 mg/L Abundance was most at joint and least in center, biomass most in center to least at eastern bank. Abundance was the highest in summer, successively in autumn and spring, the least in winter. Biomass was the highest in summer, then in spring and autumn, the least in winter too. Differently, that in Gaotang lake expressed the most in autumn, successively in summer and spring and the lowest in winter. The diversity index, richness index and evenness index of zooplankton were all high in center than them at edge contrary to concentricity index.Species of zooplankton increased along with temperature's rising, but correlation of species and pH and at biomass to chlorophyll a were unobvious. That of abundance in summer and autumn and dissolved oxygen was obvious than them in spring and winter.Of the investigations in the year of 1985,2004 and 2005, indices were increased except SD and TN. Seasonal variation of abundance was closed in the year 2004 and 2005, but it of biomass was different. Biomass showed increasing trend from the year of 1985 to now, micro-zooplankton is dominant gradually.
