Graft copolymerization of maize starch-acrylamid is a kind of new polymer materil, material, its not only have molecular effect and reaction of polysaccharide compou- nd but also biotic stability and linear stretch. Contrasting with homopolymer, have the properties of strong flocculating, molecular stability increasing, wide using and easy reaction. Being function of increasing density, flocculating, helping deposition and stable colloid, have excel properties at polymer coagulant, superabsorbent poly- mer, paper industry, oil field material, degradable plastic film and plastic.In this article, maize starch as basic material, various chemical initiator, KPS, KMnO4/RH, Fe2+/H2O2, CAN graft AM to St, produce organic polymer coagulantUsing Ce4+ as initiator research the reactive regularity of acrylamid onto marize starch. Question the effects on C G EG of initiator variety and quantity, monomer quantity, starch quantity, temperature, time, St-Am quantity ratio, determine the most suitable condition and process by normal experiment Analyse and test the products by IR & DSC. The results show: St-Am quantity ratio and temperature affect C G much more.If initiator 1.1 mmol/L, starch 35g/L, Am 1.48mol/L, temperature 25℃, time 2h, C is 92.5%, Gmax is 271.22%, ηmax is 587.83ml/g. FTIR Spectroscopy testify: maize starch-acrylamid has the characteristic peaks of maize starch and AM, St-Am graft copolymerization is success. Polymer Tg (225℃) is high than maize starch, it's hot stability is improved.The transmittivity of flocculating for coal slurry and KaoLin show: the graft copolymerization of St-Am have cheapness, without poison and flocculating well when contrasting with RAM, The higher the percentage G was,the better the flocculating efficiency was.
