This paper evaluated the effectiveness of in-situ microbe remediat ion techniques of seriously polluted urban river by laboratory and fie 1d tests. In laboratory test, tap water is untreated, river water-sedi ment body and lake water-sediment body are treated by adding photosynt hetic bacteria(PSB) liquid agents and sediment improvement microbe age nts(c =10 mg/L), and aerating by mini-type air pumps. Urban river A of Fang Village District, Guangzhou is treated by in-situ comprehensive m icrobe remediation: adding PSB liquid agents and sediment improvement microbe agent(c= 10 mg/L) in every 30 days, artificial dams and aerati on. Dissolved oxygen(DO), temperature, pH, chemical oxygen demand(CODCr). total nitrogen(TN), total phosphorus(TP), in water and total organi c content(TOC), TN and TP in sediment are monitored. The results show:1. In laboratory test, it shows a notable effect of water quality improvement: CODcr, TN and TP of the lake water dropped for 72.3 %, 85.6 % and 82.4 %, DO went up from 2.21 mg/L to 7.89 mg/L; CODCr, TN and TP of the river water dropped for 89.0 %, 96.5 % and 87.4 %, DO went up from 0.12 mg/L to 7.35 mg/L.2. In laboratory test, sediment improvement microbe agents are effective in sediment biological oxidation: The interface of water-sediment generated a 0.5 cm gray oxidizing layer, TOC, TN and TP of the lake sediment dropped for 55.2 %, 58.8 % and 23.4 %; TOC, TN and TP of the river sediment dropped for 60.9...
