In this paper, a special method of removing magnesium from the zinc hydrometallurgical process is researched. There are two ways which magnesium is brought into the hydrometallurgical process, one way is from the raw material of zinc concentrate, it accounts for a majority of magnesium, the other way is brought from the auxiliary material in zinc hydrometallurgical process, it accounts for little parts of magnesium. The methods to remove magnesium from leaching solution can be classified into two ways, in the first method, magnesium is removed before roasting, if magnesium in the zinc sulfide mineral concentrate is above 0.6 %, it can be washed to remove magnesium by the dilute vitriol. With this method magnesium can be removed from zinc sulfide mineral concentrate effectively. Another is magnesium is removed by cooling the solution. It is well known, there are five ways to remove magnesium, neutralizing precipitate zinc to remove magnesium method, leaching zinc concentrate by vitriol to remove magnesium, fluoride precipitation to remove magnesium, condensing and crystallizing the solution to remove magnesium. applying high efficiency extraction agent to separate magnesium from zinc solution. In the methods above the economic and reasonable processes are put forward to keep the magnesium in zinc electrolyte at a lower level. Each technology process has its special advantages and disadvantages, it differs from the magnesium form in concentrate and the demands of technology. In this experiment, based on the present process, and the traits of the Fule zinc concentrate and other zinc concentrate, a reasonable special technology is represented to settle with the high quantity of magnesium in process.Through the experimental research, the method to remove the magnesium from the zinc sulfate solution in zinc hydrometallurgical process is represented, in which the magnesium in a high magnesium zinc concentrate is leached by discarded zinc electrolyte. As the magnesium morphology in Fule zinc concentrate is CaMg (CO3)2, the magnesium is become MgO after roasting , the MgO reacted with vitriol to form MgSO4 into the leached solution.
