Ionic liquids(ILs) are liquids being fully composed of cations and anions with some unique characteristics, e.g. good conductivity, non-volatility, non-flammability, good stability and tunable solubility for many organic compounds and inorganic salts. Their application covers a wide spectrum, for example, being a green solvent and catalyst for many chemical reactions, as well as a solvent for gas absorption, extraction, crystallization and other separation processes. Also, ILs can be used as liquid electrolyte in a battery and electrolysis process for their good conductance and stability. Furthermore, as a potential green solvent, its application can reduce or even eliminate the emission of VOCs to the environment in a chemical process. As a result, ILs have a brilliant future and deserve extensive exploitation. The thesis is mainly composed of three parts. The first part is concerned with measurement of electric conductivity of some ionic liquids in water, ethanol and the mixtures thereof, as well as the relation between the conductivity and the salt effects of ionic liquids on vapor-liquid equilibrium of ethanol-water binary systems. The second...
