Porous materials have been widely used as catalytic surfaces and supports, separation and adsorbent media, biomaterials, chromatographic materials, and thermal, acoustic, and electrical insulators because they features high ratio of surface to volume, adsorbent capacity and special properties. Surface-macroporous polystyrene with sub-micrometer pores and a surface thickness of 10 μm has been synthesized using a maleic anhydride-alt-vinyl acetate copolymer as a template, followed by removal of the template with water, ethanol or acetone.The purpose of this essay is to make use of template to synthesize polystyrene with porous on the surface.
