In the beginning of the thesis, the present situation of modifying and application on UHMWPE are summarized. Because of the molecule weight of UHMWPE is very high, it is difficult to process. From blending, in-situ polymerizing and nano compounding, UHMWPE can be obtained in different properties and different applications. Mean while, several processing methods of UHMWPE are summarized in the thesis. This topic is part of research subject of SINOPEC. The main purpose of the subject is to lower the cost of UHMWPE. On the other hand, enhance the rigid properties of the "UHMWPE". In the method of in-situ polymerization, fillers were treated in the furnace. Some of the fillers could bring about polymeric activation, and others should be loaded with activated subjects. And so on, they can polymerize with alkenes, such as ethylene. Nano fillers should be treated at first. The relationship between structure and properties is main significance of the research. Through the working of the research, some results are reported in the thesis. First of all, several kinds of fillers were used to modify UHMWPE through in-situ polymerizing. Generally, tensile strengths of filler modified UHMWPE were significantly improved. For example, tensile strengths were improved more than 60 percent when MoS2 and Kaolin were filled in 10 percent. Heat resisting temperatures were improved ether. The polymerizing is very hard to control when filler content is low. When filler size is fine, especially near the nano scale, fillers conglomeration in polymer is very serious. Also, this state of affairs is difficult to conquer. MMT/UHMWPE nano-compounds were studied in the thesis. Three kinds of monomer were used to pillar in MMT. Different monomer pillared MMT obtained different distends between...
