High viscosity PVB resin and film were prepared by adding some extent of chain extenders. Effect of chain extenders on PVB resin and film was studied The addition of chain extender in synthesis of PVB resin was 3% of the volume of butyl aldehyde and in processing of the film no more than 3% of the quality of PVB resin, thus the Mw of PVB resin was increased, adhesion of PVB film to glass decreased, and tensile strength of PVB film raised greatly. Impact ability of laminated safety glass was not affected by chain extenders.Processing technology of PVB film or sheet was studied. The effects of plasticizers on PVB resin were explored through glass transition temperature, melt index, tensile strength and tensile breaking elongation of PVB film. Experiment results showed that plasticizers with high polarity had a good compatibility with PVB resin. When the temperature of extrusion die is between 130 and 140℃, the PVB sheet would have a roughness surface, tensile strength of PVB film could reach 35MPa and the tensile breaking elongation of PVB film could be over 200%, those could meet the requirement of laminated safety glass.Thermal and photo aging mechanism of PVB film was studied by the use of IR spectra and the change of tensile breaking strength. The result showed that tensile breaking strength of the PVB film was increased and then reduced during both of the thermal and photo deteriorations. In thermal aging, some plasticizer in the film was evaporated and the PVB chain was broken; but in photo aging, the PVB chains were cross-linked into a larger PVB chain and only a small number of PVB chain was...
