With the intensive and extensive research on polymer/montmorillonite composites, it is realized that montmorillonite may decrease the crystallization tempertature of polymers, increase their crystallization speed, shortening crystallization time, and improve the polymer crystallization capacity. In this study, monomers were first intercalated into the montmorillonite clay layers by ion exchange, followed by in-situ polymerization. The obtained polymer was released from montmorillonite template and collected through precipitation. FT-IR, XRD and ~1H NMR etc. have been conducted to investigate the property of the polymers. The obtained polydimethyl diallylammonium chloride displayed hexagon single crystal lattic under selected area electronic diffraction. By the means of Ito analysised crystal parameter were obtained. For comparison, polydimethyl diallylammonium chloride was intercalated into montmorillonite and then released. Through this treatment the obtained polydimethyl diallylammonium chloride was confirmed to be needlelike and micrometer size. This result shows further evidence that montmorillonite layers can improve the conformation...
