Organic conductive polymers, on account of their excellent physical and chemical properties, are promising in many fields such as electrochemical catalysis, chemical /biosensor, electrochemical capacitor and so on. Among conductive polymers, polyaniline (PANI) has attracted considerable interesting due to its availability, simple synthesis, high conductivity and stability. In recent years, with the rapid development of nanotechnology and composite materials, PANI nanocomposite film with better functional properties have been synthesized. In this paper, PANI-metal nanocomposite film have been synthesized by pulse galvanostatic method (PGM) and Unsymmetrical square wave current method (USCM). The applications of the PANI-metal nanocomposite film in electrochemical catalysis were investigated. The main progresses are presented as follows:1. Pt-Ru microparticles were electrodeposited by PGM onto nanofibrous PANI film, which was synthesized directly onto stainless steel (SS). Pt-Ru/nanofibrous PANI/SS electrode was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS),which show that lots of Pt-Ru microparticles with a diameter of about 60-120nm are deposited and dispersed uniformly on the surface of the nanofibrous PANI film. The electrocatalytical properties of Pt-Ru/nanofibrous PANI electrode have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry in 1 M CH3OH+0.5 M H2SO4 solution. The results show Pt-Ru/ nanofibrous PANI electrode exhibits a considerably high electrocatalytic activity on the methanol oxidation. And the methanol oxidation may be controlled by diffusion process. Moreover, Pt-Ru/nanofibrous PANI/SS electrode prepared in this paper shows a good long-term cycling stability.2. The electrochemical behaviour of L-cysteine at Pt/nanofibrous PANI electrode was investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The results show that the electrooxidation of cysteine is improved significantly by Pt/nanofibrous PANI electrode. Furthermore, a sensitive cysteine sensor was developed based on Pt/nanofibrous PANI electrode. Effects of pH, scan rate on the electrocatalytic properties of Pt /nanofibrous PANI electrode, interference of other oxidizable amino acids, reproducibility and stability were also investigated and discussed.3.
